A first taste of aroma
Begin with a cup of herbal tea and discover the distinct scents and personalities of more than ten seasonal herbs.
Start with a leaf and discover the land it grows in. Follow an aroma and create a cup of herbal tea that is uniquely yours.
Organized by Brookline Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce (BTCC) × 余心樂

The Brookline Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce is pleased to introduce its new Farm Lecture Series in collaboration with 余心樂. Our first session explores herbal tea, taking you from herbs, soil, and aroma to tasting, sensory discovery, and blending your own cup.
This is a hands-on afternoon. Use your nose, your palate, and your hands to reconnect with plants, the land they grow in, and the flavors you enjoy.
The workshop lasts approximately three hours, with about 30 minutes of introductory learning. After a brief look at herbs, soil, growing conditions, and aroma, most of our time will be spent exploring, smelling, tasting, blending, and sharing.
By the end, every participant will have created a personal cup of herbal tea.
Begin with a cup of herbal tea and discover the distinct scents and personalities of more than ten seasonal herbs.
Explore the relationship between soil, growing conditions, and the aromas of plants.
Through smelling and tasting, learn to recognize the characteristics and layers of different herbs.
Get to know each plant through mythology, the meanings of flowers, and the choices behind what is grown on the farm.
Practice noticing top, middle, and base notes as you discover which aromas you enjoy most.
Move from tasting individual herbs to creating blends. Explore proportions and pairings, then make a cup that is your own.
Freshly baked herbal cookies will accompany the workshop, bringing taste and aroma together. Herbal hydrosol will also be prepared at the end, so the scents and memories can continue beyond the session.
Everyone who completes registration and attends the workshop will receive one limited-edition mug specially created by the Brookline Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce. Enjoy your herbal tea and take home a small keepsake of Boston’s Taiwanese community.
Your registration includes the full three-hour herbal experience, herb tasting, sensory exercises, hands-on tea blending, freshly baked herbal cookies, herbal hydrosol, and one limited-edition TAIWANESE IN BOSTON mug.
